Well, I upgraded from a 2017 Macbook Pro 15inch, I could feel a huge leap in performance and battery life. This device has pretty much spoiled me, and maybe I have spoiled it (no pun intended).

Should you upgrade? Maybe can wait little longer? I'm not sure how accurate the leaks are, but the M2/M1X MacBook Pro release date will be around the third quarter of 2021.
