As someone who is deeply interested in the AI landscape, I recently stumbled upon an interesting leaked internal Google document that makes some bold claims about the future of artificial intelligence. In this article, I want to share my thoughts on the points raised and explain why I believe open source AI is the real game-changer to which we should all be paying attention.

Based on the leaked document, both Google and OpenAI are lagging behind open-sourced AI projects. While they focus on their “arms race,” open source AI has been making astonishing progress. For instance, people can now run sophisticated language models using just a phone, fine-tune personalized AI on a laptop, and create multimodal models in a very short amount of time.
